Monster Changes - Faerie
● Insect-like wings, which can resemble any type of insect from butterflies to dragonflies to the common house fly.● Antennae on their heads which can be used to sense nearby vibrations and keep balance during flight.● Pointed ears.● Eyes that can be any color, usually in a pastel shade.● Thin, translucent claw-like fingernails.● The ability to shrink in size, down to as small as one inch tall. They will be more vulnerable the smaller they get, but also much faster and nearly impossible to actually catch.● The ability to create Faerie rings (small circles of mushrooms on the ground) that can transport themselves and others to the location of another Faerie ring. Each Faerie can only have up to three Faerie rings active at once, and the Faerie who made the ring must be present in order to use them.● An aversion to lying. Faeries have a difficult time telling lies, even though many of them are skilled at twisting the truth. While a faerie can lie, they’ll hate themselves so much that it will cause extreme pain and symptoms not limited to but including fever, chills, and nausea. The lie will often be followed be several truths to try and fix the situation. This aversion can be worked through with years of practice.● A need to feed on human energy. The Faerie accomplishes this by luring a human into one of their Faerie rings, at which point they are able to sap them of their energy.OPTIONAL
● Any psychological changes are welcome! Feel free to pull from real world myths, canon creatures of this variety, or any other source!
● A fog form. This is an exaggerated version of their monster form that appears only during the fog and is a chance to make your monster more "horrifying" during the fog.
● Hair in the same color as their eyes.
● Insect-like compound eyes.
● Up to two extra sets of arms.● Hardened, carapace-like skin.● Longer and thinner arms, legs, and fingers.(Technically his secondary arms are like this.)● Any number of insectoid facial features such as a proboscis.
● A large, extra mouth somewhere on the Faerie's body that can be used to devour humans as an alternative to draining their energy in Faerie rings. This mouth is able to consume human flesh, if desired.
● The ability to temporarily hypnotize humans, although the hypnosis will have to be broken before they can drain them of their energy.
● The ability to create Faerie dust from their hands. This can either give a human amnesia for the duration of an hour, or transform them into a harmless insect for an hour. Each Faerie can only use one Faerie dust spell per day.
ADDITIONAL INFO/TRAITS
✔ Faeries can have outer beetle-like shells, as long as the outer shell does not provide any additional defense and is purely for aesthetic purposes.
✔ The mushrooms in the Faerie circles are edible, and they taste like normal mushrooms. This also means no special hallucinogenic properties.
✔ When a Faerie creates a 4th circle, one of the previous 3 has to disappear, but they can choose which one. To reactivate it the Faerie would have to go back to that location and create a new one.
✔ For the extra mouth on Faeries, you can choose how big or how small they are.

Upper body ref as well as eyes and antennae
Full-body ref sans some details on the upper torso, and secondary arms that'll show up later
Full wing pattern ref, including defensive 'eye' markings on his back underneath the red fluff/his wings.
As of 10/28/2023, thanks to the Harvest Moon event, Quentin has gained a neat little aesthetic change! His secondary arms have that kind of silvery, smooth tree-bark look that eucalyptus have. Carapace is still there, as is the red on his hands, but the darker gray carapace and red looks more like the lingering bits of bark flaking away. It's a combination of the bark patterning from Eucalyptus salmonophilia (the salmon gum), and Eucalyptus erythronema (the red-flowered mallee).
The mushrooms of his fairy ring will be composed of Omphalotus nidiformis (aka ghost fungus), Omphalotus olivascens (aka the western Jack o'Lantern mushroom), and maybe a scattering of Russula virescens (aka green-cracking russula) as well? The Omphalotus ones have bioluminescent properties, and while edible will not make your stomach happy. The russula, however, will be perfectly fine to chow down on!
Mana Rewards/Boons, & Permanent AC Link
DECEMBER 2023 - Item purchase, solar lantern with an 'Arc Reactor' to help power it. (It's a fancy battery pack, only holds enough charge for 12 hours.) Given as a gift to one Steven Grant. 20 Coins used.
Belated addition of an AC link, so it'll make things easier later when I do wanna get some rewards, boons, whatever.

Brief Q & A
Q: What's up with the blank face?
A: I'm basing him partially off some Disney animatronics that have 'projected faces', and- well. When the projection program fails, you're going to end up with an unsettling mannequin head with just enough features in the right places for the video to play correctly/fit over his skull. It's... gonna be something, alright!
For what it looks like while his face and hair are being projected and how it works, click here.
For what happens when it glitches, click here.
Q: Can you remove the fishbowl?
A: Nope, no removal, it's screwed in tight. The projection tech in there can also not be replicated in Ryslig, it's specific to Quentin only while a simulacrum. Sorry, fellow inventors.
Q: ...Is that an arc reactor in the middle of his chest?
A: Nope! That's his speaker. If he talks, it's going to come from there. He's going to have some strange reverb until he figures out how to fiddle with it.
Q: How the FUCK does that spine work?
A: I'm glad you asked! Here are some sample videos of the stunt animatronic I borrowed it from, aka the Spider-bot! He can probably do some sick jumps, temporarily. Whoo! (He cannot actually do sick jumps, more like some sick somersaults on the ground.)
Q: What's with those gold cracks on the face/neck?
A: The skin substitute there starts cracking/flaking and peeling as time passes, because it's... more or less relatively thin now? Don't worry about it. He'll get his skin back later! This is mostly to make him squirm and be relieved when things go back to normal. (Heh, "normal".)
Q: ....What's underneath the skin substitute, then?
A: Metal, some vague components, assorted electronics and tubes, etc. His mouth doesn't move, so there's no real... moving parts, so to speak? The projection does most of the heavy-lifting, re: emoting.
Q: If he has a nameplate somewhere, what does it say?
A: He does have a nameplate! I forgot to include it on the ref sheet, but let's say it's underneath his left arm, below the rubbery joint area indicated in the ref sheet and on the metal itself.
It says something along the lines of "Q.Beck. Property of Stark Industries. A/V Model. [lil date of manufacture symbol] [current year in Ryslig]-05-06. Caution: volatile under duress." He still has some big hang-ups about how he feels his tech was stolen and misused, and his nameplate reflects that, hence: Stark Industries. The Fog God really wanted to shame him. If Beck got over himself during the temp event, the 'Property of' section would become scratched out entirely as a form of him going "No, I belong to no one but me" etc. However, that's... probably not going to happen.
Simulacrum Details/Changes Timeline
-Synthetic skin stage 1: Starts from the neck down. Normal skin comes off to reveal white painted metal, some gold joints/internal mechanisms, etc.
-Mechanized innards: No longer friends with human spine, STUNTRONIC SPINE is my friend now! Also, oil instead of blood, wiring instead of nerves, and some fancy mechanical joints for his limbs. All the bones in his body are shifting to metal/plastic/some mix of the two, including those in his face.
-Mechanized limbs stage 1: His arms, and one of his legs shifting into digitrade configuration. It's fine.
-Small monitor on his left arm: Measures his vital signs, tells time. Otherwise, useless!
-Increased endurance: He slammed one of his new metal hand into a wall and dented the wall. Don't worry about it!
-Vocal cords replaced by speaker: It's located in his chest, thank you. He has some reverb he wants to get fixed at some point. When in high emotional distress, he struggles with his voice glitching. This will remain a constant.
-Weakness to water: Yes, he's going to stick his hand into water immediately. Why? Because he's a jackass who wants to know his limits right this second.
-A nameplate. See the Q & A above for what that says!
May 7th-12th
-Mechanized limbs stage 2: Both legs are now in sort-of digitrade shape. He is VERY unhappy about this, struggles with balance/walking.
-Synthetic skin, stage 2: Any remaining normal flesh on his neck and face is starting to change. His neck will get a partial...coating, more or less, of gray rubber that looks like some kind of connector/collar thing, and any lingering flesh tone skin is starting to stiffen up. Think... kind of firmish thin foam or thickish latex? It's starting to go that direction.
-Gains his fun lil helmet, with his projection face starting to take shape over his normal one! Thanks for slapping it onto him in his sleep, o Fog God. The projection face is still rough around the edges, and reflects his emotional state by becoming distorted when angry or frustrated. Prone to the occasional glitch. There's a visible disconnect sometimes between his projected mouth and his physical one.
-Re: his speaker, it's still a little wonky now and then, but it's starting to even out the more he uses it. When in a higher emotional state, his voice may get stuck on some vowels.
May 13th to the 15th:
-Mechanized limbs overall: Quentin's adjusted to his limbs, and can walk around pretty alright with less struggle. He still has to watch his balance, though, with how his spine/torso moves now.
-The projection face is starting to become clearer, and emoting more. Have his eyes always been green-? Weird.
-Synthetic skin, stage 3: The skin-tone stuff on the top half of his neck and his overall face is starting to smooth out, and is still... kind of rubber/latexy. It's thinning to some degree. His physical lips are moving less.
Later Changes
-Synthetic skin stage 4 n beyond: Yeah, he's lost his hair. It's allllll projection now, literally! The skin replacement will start tearing/cracking/peeling in some places, revealing a gold color metal underneath the skin. His physical 'eyes' will also appear to blend in with his face and be just... non-existent, if that makes sense. His mouth will no longer move when he talks. There are no mechanisms underneath his skin for him to emote, anymore.
-The projection face will become more cohesive, and resemble his old face, albeit very... blue. Thanks, projection tech! It will be overlaid his now non-moving face. Whenever it glitches, it will look like a black band moving upwards over his blank mannequin-like face. The projection will emote for him, if his tone of voice doesn't serve as enough of a tip-off.
-A weakness to magnets! Get one of a decent enough size, or put just the right one in the right place, and watch him have some struggles!
-A need to feed on the energy of humans. They accomplish this by extending their nerve-wires into the bodies of humans and extracting their energy directly. This can involve making a "complete circuit," wherein a Simulacrum's electrical power is sent through their victim, electrocuting them to death.
-Subservience. Simulacra are prone to suggestion and have a hard time refusing orders from anyone. Tbh, this is mostly here to yank his chain a little, and give Quentin a rough time.
-Eventually, re: his speaker, Quentin will figure out how to purposefully use the reverb in it, instead of having it as a default. However, there will still be a bit of a staticky, crackling quality to his voice that he can't avoid. Out of dice, Mr. Simulacrum! He's going to need some help to get that squared away, though.
Death Count in Ryslig
Second death: 10/28/2023 Sacrificed self at the end of the Harvest Moon event, lost his first memory batch: names of those he worked with as Mysterio. He knows he had a team, but their names are just gone now. Ended up with a very neat aesthetic change though: see the art stuff for a general rundown of that!
Multiversal Museum Exhibit
If you'd like the full description of the exhibit, please click here!
Many of the dioramas are related to the 'Elemental attacks' in Spider-Man: Far From Home, as well as some key moments from the movie. In addition to that, there is also a small theater that shows a ten minute or so hammy 1950sish B-Movie about Mysterio's exploits during FFH where he's cast in a heroic light, and maybe even a secret room off of said theater revealing some of this guy's soft underbelly-? How wild!
For gift shop related things, we have:
-A small Spider-Man plush-? Wild.
-A plastic replica of Molten Man, aka the Fire Elemental. It’s poseable and 9 inches tall. How fancy!
-A small box of cheap metal frame glasses with blue plastic lenses. The label in front of them says ‘EDITH glasses’, with no explanation of what or who EDITH is.
-A very cheap little action figure of Mysterio, complete with ‘magical blast’.
March 2023 - Temporary Monster Change - Werewolf
Day Form & Travel Form
Night Form
Brief Q & A:
Q: Hey what kinda dog is this guy?
A: Some kind of greyhound/whippet mix, because I liked elements of both dogs, and they're closely related anyways. He has non-standard brown-gray coloring, surprise surprise. It's a lot more blended together than you see here, though. Overall vibe is "relatively shortish fur, thin whippy tail, uncannily thin in travel form."
Q: What's up with the funky fur coloring? What's that weird pattern off to the side-? Is that a nakey paw???
A: It's the return of the mocap suit, baby! You know how panthers have spots you can sort of see only if they're at the right angle in the light-? Well, Beck's got that mocap patterning that covers his arms, stomach, and legs which only is noticeable if you see him at just the right angle. And yes, some fingers on his right hand are lacking fur for Aesthetic Reasons, it's the one place he can't really grow fur at all. It reflects in his travel form as well.
Full Werewolf Rundown:
Mandatory
● Werewolves retain their normal human appearance when not transformed, but must take on the mandatory changes (plus whatever optional ones the player desires) once the sun has gone down. Werewolves are also transformed 24/7 during Fog days. They will not change back until their human form until they have seen the sun, meaning they won't change back at all if they're in a room with no windows or underground, even if it's daytime!
● Upper and lower canine teeth elongated into sharp fangs.
● Wolf-like pointed ears.
● Fur on the back, shoulders, and arms.
● Clawed hands and feet with pads on the bottom.
● A strong bite. Werewolves have powerful jaws, which makes them capable of biting through thicker materials such as bones.
● Sharpened senses. Werewolves have much better hearing than a normal human, and their sense of smell is strong enough to pick up many distinct scents and follow them.
● Post-transformation fatigue. While Werewolves are very energetic in their wolf forms, they tend to have major fatigue when turning back to human form. Thus, they tend to be nocturnal.
● A weakness to silver as well as the flower known as wolfsbane. Direct contact will be painful and ingesting wolfsbane or being shot with a silver bullet can kill.
● Hunger and hunting instinct. Werewolves are strictly carnivores and prefer to hunt their own food down. Hunting animals will satiate them for a short time, but the longer they go without hunting a human, the more they'll be compelled to do so until they start losing their self-control.
Optional
● The ability to shift into a full wolf/dog/fox/ect. form at any time. In this form, the character will look like a normal canine and will be able to travel faster. However, they will also be more vulnerable.
● Fur on any other part of the body.
● A wolf tail.
● Longer arms for the ability to run fast on all fours.
● Any number of wolf-like facial features, ranging from mild to fully lupine.
● A werewolf may have canine features or markings while they're in their day form as long as there's a significant contrast between their day and night forms.
September 2023 Event - The Paths Not Taken
It takes color influence from this piece of concept art from Far From Home.
Mandatory Changes
● Amorphous body. Slimes lack bones and other rigid structures through most—if not all—of their body, and can shape themselves as they see fit. Their default, "relaxed" shape may be that of a human, an animal, an object, any hodgepodge thereof, or no structured shape at all. However, they may have difficulty carrying their weight on narrow supports, so Slimes rarely opt for legged forms.
● A translucent body. Slime forms are semitransparent, so while you can see a person inside the Slime being digested, you wouldn't be able to see the person hiding behind them.
● Brightly colored slime, in any color.
● Ability to shapeshift. Slimes can adjust the shape and perceived size of their form. They may remove limbs or give themselves new ones, compress or expand their fluid to change apparent size, or take on the shape of something else. Slimes cannot gain abilities this way — shapeshifted wings are incapable of flight, for example. Their overall mass does not change regardless of appearance, and so become weaker and less stable the bigger they get.
● A nucleus. This serves as the "brain" or the "core" of the Slime and take any form, with the following restrictions:
- The nucleus can be located anywhere within their body, and can move from place to place.
- The nucleus is much less resilient than the rest of the Slime. If it is pierced or destroyed, the Slime will lose cohesion and die.
- The nucleus is between 2" and 6" inches in diameter, but cannot change size.
● High tolerance to physical harm. Since Slimes generally lack bones, muscles, and often skin, they are incredibly difficult to hurt through brute force.
● Slimes can regain lost or destroyed slime over the period of 1-3 weeks. During the fog, this time is reduced to 24 hours.
● "Puddle" form. Shapeshifting allows a Slime to become completely flat—including their nucleus—in order to slip under doors, through cracks, or into other small openings.
● The need to consume the fluids of humans. This can be blood, water, lymph, and/or other liquids found within the body.
Optional Changes
● Stealth form: the ability to take the form of a slug or a snail. In this form, the character will look like a normal slug/snail and will be able to blend into their surroundings most effectively. However, they will also be more vulnerable and will find it difficult to move around without assistance.
● Weakness to water. Slimes will dissolve when submerged in water, while being hit with water makes it difficult for them to maintain body cohesion. They become nervous and fearful when near standing water, and are paranoid about rainfall.
How things changed:
-His resurrection at Lake Dala was more traumatizing, as he tried not to dissolve in the lake. As a faerie, he was merely waterlogged. This time? He nearly mcate it upon coming back to life, and was more shaken.
-He ran into Chiaki Nanami, Tawna Bandicoot, and a past version of Ingo who were kind to him after his resurrection. Considering slimes are way less humanoid than fairies.... yeah. His ego got crunched a little harder, and he was more surprised/grateful that people looked at him and went 'yeah, I'll help him out.' Holds tighter onto his relationships, is vocal about that gratefulness. Steven Grant is also included in that!
-No baking as a coping mechanism :( He did, however, take further to the embroidery/sewing that Tawna taught him, as it helped him learn how to NOT absorb small things or fabric. He'll still goop things sometimes, but he's worked to gain some control. He tends to modify clothing.
-Little more civic minded! He's seen what Chiaki Nanami can do as a slime, and has started tentatively trying to make changes like they aspire to. So far, that's getting involved with HEARTH a bit more, and poking around the Lighthouse going '...Ya need some monster clothes? I have some.' It's tentative, but he's trying!
-Has a shakier set of boundaries when it comes to popping in on his friends. He'll goop underneath a door rather than use a key, cause fuck it! It saves him time and he doesn't accidentally eat another key! Win-win!
-Vaguely wistful for a stable form again, but thinks it's awesome he can have a third arm if he needs one in a pinch. That's kinda nice!
-All in all, more earnest, a bit more emotionally vulnerable, and wants to maintain his friendships EXTRA HARD. He's thrived because of others' kindness, and is willing to acknowledge that without much shame.
May 2024 - Naphil monsterswap
Overall Naphil Vibe
Plasma ref
Brief Q & A
Q: Hey, what are his wings snagged from?
A: They are based off of the griffon vulture, including the main set of wing colors! The secondary ones are just scaled down vulture wings with Mysterio colors and some of the cape markings along the top edge. He's a scavenger who picked over the bones of Tony Stark's legacy, and I couldn't resist.
Q: The extra eyes that can see things are where-?
A: Back of his neck, partially hidden by hair. It's fiiiiiiiiine. The non-functional ones are where the eyes are on his Mysterio suit, ie back of hands, clasps on cape/collarbone zone.
Q: He has a leimotif following him around???
A: It's basically the Mysterio motif from the movie, specifically from Change of Plans on the soundtrack. Slow, calming, a bit lilting. The snippet from 0:46 to 1:18 is what loops around him.
Q:...Is he bleeding here?
A: Technically yes, technically no! It's illusionary blood dripping from the kintsugi scars on his torso, purely aesthetic. The crack through his left horn does NOT bleed, just has the kintsugi crack through it. Shoutout to the Blasphemous games for holy schtuff bleeding gold, gotta be one of my favorite aesthetics. Beck bleeds just like any other person otherwise.
Mandatory Changes
● Feathery wings on their back, ranging from one wing to six, with which they can fly.
● A halo. This can be the traditional white or golden aura around the head, a cartoonish floating ring, etc. It may brighten when the Naphil experiences strong emotion, making them difficult to look at.
● An extra pair of functional eyes somewhere on the head.
● Either bull horns, a lion's mane, or a bull or lion tail. You may choose more than one of these, but at least one must be present. Nephilim can only have one tail.
● The ability to use holy magic. Nephilim have four primary spells:
- the ability to induce awe in a human, terrorizing them into stillness
- the ability to create and control plasma (as in ionized gas)
- the ability to create a barrier through which only Nephilim can cross
- the ability to channel holy energy into a human's body
● Nephilim do not need to sleep, and are in fact unable to.
● Nephilim do not cast shadows, and are unable to shield other monsters from sunlight.
● A weakness to the dark and dark magic. When in complete darkness, Nephilim lose their corporeal form and become a haze, undefined and without physical body. They have difficulty maintaining their forms in weak light (e.g. moonlight); although Nephilim can produce light from their halos, this is not enough illumination to maintain their forms. Dark magic can kill Nephilim.
● The need to feed by purging human souls. Nephilim accomplish this with the final holy magic ability listed above. They fill the victim with holy power, which causes the body to expel the soul. It is not until the soul exits the body that Nephilim can consume it, leaving behind the purified husk of their victim.
Optional Changes
● Stealth form: the ability to take the form of an inanimate angel statue. The size can be anything from the Naphil's usual height to palm size, and can be damaged or mossy in order to blend in with the terrain even more. In this form, the character can remain solid, even in total darkness. However, they will be unable to move or change back until light is on them, and they are no more durable than normal stone, leaving them more vulnerable.
● More eyes, either on the face or elsewhere. Unlike the mandatory pair, these are non-functional.
● Leitmotif. Some Nephilim may be followed around by a discreet musical motif typically associated with divinity, such as orchestral or choral music. This music cannot hold any actual lyrics, and is easy enough to tune out by those in the Naphil's near vicinity.
● The ability to travel at greater speeds, though only when not observed. If they are being watched by a human or monster, they are restricted to their normal speed — however, if their observer closes their eyes or blinks, the Naphil is unrestricted until their eyes open again.
● The ability to create a sigil, which can be used to invoke a Naphil. Nephilim will be summoned to the sigil when it is used, either through immediate teleportation or a compulsion to travel to the sigil as fast as possible. It must be invoked by another and could be used by enemies as well. Nephilim can only be summoned once per day.
● Stigmatic healing ability. Nephilim can take the wounds of others, but the damage will be transferred wholly to them. If they "heal" a broken arm, their own will be broken in turn.
● Nephilim may have two additional spells:
- a spell of purification, which allows them to purify things like muck-ridden water
- a spell that brings others' regrets to the surface and amplifies them
If these abilities are used on other monsters, they are effective for up to one hour, and can only be used once per day.
June 2024 - Monsterswap roundup
Week 1 - Harpy
The inspiration for his design is unsurprisingly, the peacock! Some influence has also been taken from the Tengu/Tenga costume designs in the Power Rangers series. I wanted to just have fun with this, and go full rubber-monster costume at least once.
Mandatory Changes
● Bird-like wings that can resemble any species of bird, but will always be large enough to fly with. These wings can either be on their back, or the Harpy can have winged arms.
● Bird talons in place of feet, and talon-like claws instead of fingernails as well.
● Hair with a feathery texture.
● Hollow bones and increased lung capacity, allowing the character to fly more easily.
● Feathers on the shoulders and elbows.
● Extremely sharp eyesight. Harpies can make out small details and movements on the ground even from great heights.
● Ability to predict weather patterns. Harpies will be able to accurately predict the weather up to a week in advance.
● Weakness to electricity. Being electrocuted or struck by lightning can kill a Harpy. Better get to lower ground during thunderstorms!
● A nesting instinct. Harpies feel safest when able to make a shelter in a high place.
● The need to feed on human flesh. This need may be satiated by accepting it from others, but more often than not, the Harpy will be compelled to choose their own targets for a fresh kill.
● A strong hunting instinct. When Harpies are hungry, they will develop the urge to chase prey down. Harpies usually hunt by either directly attacking their prey or lifting them off the ground and dropping them from great heights.
Optional Changes
● Travel form: the ability to change into a bird. In this form, the character will look like a normal bird and will be able to travel faster. However, they will also be more vulnerable.
● Feathers on any other part of the body.
● A bird-like tail.
● Short bursts of speed. The Harpy will be able to move extremely fast for about a mile, but will be extremely exhausted afterwards.
● A soothing singing voice that can charm humans, making them vulnerable to being lured.
