We The Lost context

Hello there! I know We The Lost is now a sandbox game, but I want to give some context for Beck and how he got here, as well as why he's a tiny bit less bastard than usual, while... still kind of a dick.

SO. Vague pseudo-app time for We The Lost, sans possessions (n/a bc honestly he'd have very little besides the clothes on his back) and samples because Pandora is currently locked to outside viewers while they work on shutting the site down in the upcoming months.

Minor CW for: mentioned brainwashing related to Bucky Barnes as a character, vaguely touched-on injuries and fighting.

Character Name: Quentin Beck
Canon: Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
Game Transplant: Pandora RP, a forum RP site.
Original app: Oh god I need to code it for Dreamwidth, it'll be a minute.
Game Summary:
Pandora RP was a mass-crossover open sandbox based on Pandora's Box. The world was shaped like a box, and anything could and did happen there. Doppelgangers, power-switching, ending up in Valhalla, you name it, and it's probably happened at least once. There was no real over-arching plot-line besides what you, the player, did, and the world could be shifted and changed by your actions if there was a world-scale plot occurring. Pandora had a seasons system, and the seasons matched up with three months passing IRL for context. Summer is June, July, August, Fall is September October, Novemeber, etc. The year that Beck entered during was 110, and shifted over to 111 with the start of the Fall season.

How long was your character in game?: A little over five months IC, and the same for OOC.
History of character in-game:

-June, 110 was his entrance to Pandora, and he was dumped into an alleyway. He faked his own mugging to throw off any suspicion for his wounds, and was helped to the hospital by Daisy Johson of Agents of Shield. In the hospital afterwards, he healed from his wounds and poked around for any info relating to people from his original world. In this time, he also learned about the Winter Soldier's code words which had been revealed and streamed live on television months before Beck's arrival. With that in mind, he decided to try and re-enact his plan to have Mysterio debut as a hero with somebody else wearing the costume (Bucky Barnes). After he left the hospital, he used a fake identity of 'William Guterman' to get a job as a researcher at Wayne Tech, and get some lodgings where he was neighbors to a man named Palmer(from the Thing).

Eventually, Beck managed to reach out to Bucky and set up a meeting, where he lied that they knew each other and he'd helped Bucky in the past break free from his code-words. Beck got himself a super soldier, and set Bucky to work stealing shit to make more drones with. Everything has to be done by hand, because what is he, made of money? It's slow going, but now he has a plan to set in motion and work with if things all go right.

-July, 110 is where things go wildly wrong. He runs into a Peter Parker who knows him at the supermarket, and they happen to wreck some shit in the ensuing scuffle. Barely a few days later, he learns that his next door neighbor, Palmer, is friends with Peter and he starts working to clear out immediately after having a bit of a hissy fit at the whole thing. Palmer, knowing what kind of man he is now, proceeds to scare the shit out of him that night and tries to eat him. Beck abandons his apartment, goes to ground with Bucky, and sends the Winter Soldier out to deal with Peter Parker and steal EDITH.

Things keep getting worse, though. Bucky ends up down an arm and heavily injured, so Beck takes him to Palmer thinking Palmer could hopefully at least switch off Bucky's nerve-endings. Palmer is also friends with Bucky, so Palmer tries to get his ass again. It's a very narrow escape. Beck finally manages to get Bucky to the hospital, he comes face to face with Daisy Johnson and Bucky's adopted daughter Coco Bandicoot. Beck proceeds to get his nose broken, his control over Bucky snapped, and a target on his back because Daisy is YET AGAIN another friend of Bucky's who he pissed off. Beck just can't win at all.

After the hospital fight, he runs into Peter Parker yet again, but he's got a broken nose, and yet another kid just kicked his ass. He's tired, and earns a pity danish. No real air is cleared, and Peter just honestly thinks Beck is pathetic at this point. Beck isn't thinking so highly of himself either, with his plan having failed yet again. He lurches off into the night to lick his wounds.

-August, 110 is when Beck gains an invite to a place called the Palace of Euphoria, operated by the fae in the so-called Otherworld (a place where dreams become reality, and other mystical hijinks can occur). He's concerned his cover is blown and anybody could come down on his head, so Beck decides to cautiously take the letter at face value and accept the invitation to get there. Welcome to fae hell, lads. He pretty much spends August recovering, and trying to figure out what angle the operators of the Palace of Euphoria have. If he leaves the place, though, he can never return without another invitation. For the time being, he's stuck.

-September, 111 is when his doppelganger appears while he's still stuck in the Otherworld. His doppelganger was a sleazy Hollywood agent who's all charm, sugary sweet until he has to knife you in the back (metaphorically, of course). His doppelganger ends up helping Bucky Barnes' doppelganger get some more sweet gigs, completely unaware of Beck's own past with Bucky.
Beck himself eventually succumbs to the draw of the mysterious Rooms in the Palace of Euphoria, which can offer you anything your heart desires. It comes at a price, though: the more you use the Rooms, the more compelled you are to remain forever. It's... not great. His doppelganger gets exploded by a mad scientist during an experiment, but it's fine. The guy would have been gone in December anyways. Daisy Johnson is hunting Beck down at this time to kick his ass VERY forcefully.

Beck becomes more and more fascinated by the fae's magic at this time, and starts trying to learn it. Thanks to being located in the Otherworld where dreams can become reality, his imagination is the only limit within the Rooms. Outside of them, he's limited to minor trickery and defensive measures above all else which is... underwhelming.

-October, 111: Beck, in his dreams, was approached by the Entity from Dead By Daylight. It was a season-long DBD event where he would become a Killer known as the Illusionist, sacrificing Survivors in exchange for... pretty much a stroke to the good ole ego. However, with the Entity feeding on the emotions of both survivors and killers, the draw of the Rooms starts abating for him. Beck is feeling more tired and drained emotionally, with learning magic the only bright spot of his stay anymore. During one of the dreams that the Entity pulls him into, he meets Bucky Barnes again who has been twisted into a monster. Things once more go wildly wrong as they duke it out a little.

All in all, Beck has finally realized that not all that glitters is gold, and he chose wrong by going with the fae. However, he still has more magic to learn, and he can't do that if he goes back to the Box willingly with lingering targets on his back.

How did they change from their canon personality wise (Please explain what caused it to happen?):
Beck, in-canon, is very self-assured and confident that he'll win whatever he puts his mind to. He always thinks he's in the right, and is a callous bastard who will throw anybody else under the bus as long as it makes him look good. He wants to be adored and worshiped for his smarts, and overshadow any past hero in the MCU. His anger is sharp and sudden, and is maybe the one emotion he's the most familiar/comfortable. with besides delight at his plans going right.

Now, thanks to his plans failing yet again and getting metaphorically kicked multiple times while he's down, Beck is just... exhausted, to be honest, and on shakier emotional ground. All bark and no follow-through bite since he's learned from interactions with Peter Parker, Palmer, and Bucky Barnes that he is a very small fish in an ocean brimming with sharks. He'll still talk big and snap his teeth, but now it's to keep people off his back and hopefully the hell away from him. He doesn't trust the Meadous on the surface because the last letter he got mysteriously was from the fae, and he still doesn't fully believe he's out of the Otherworld at all.

It's reached the point where we get to watch two of Beck's impulses duke it out. Is his craving for acknowledgement, fame and fortune, bigger than his desire to simply survive? Basically, somebody help this dunkass, he's going to try and figure out how the fuck to go it alone as best he can because he can't trust anybody but himself to get shit done right, apparently.

He's still a callous dick, and will reluctantly reach out to others for help when he finally realizes he absolutely can't do everything as well as finally admits that he's stuck in the Meadous for the time being. Considering he doesn't have shattered connections with these people yet, he'll try to be vaguely polite but get snarkier and more loose-tongued the longer he knows them. With Peter Parker, though, he's going to be a needling asshole verbally because that's what he knows best. Sure, sometimes he'll go easy, but it's fun to verbally duke it out sometimes.

How did they change from their canon physically (Please explain what caused it to happen?):
-Broken nose: Coco Bandicoot kicked him in the face, and his nose was broken. If you're charitable, it's healed at a roguish angle. If you're not, it's not hard to guess he lost a fight with somebody.
-Longer hair (jaw length) and less well-kept beard: Beck didn't have to worry about keeping up appearances in the Palace of Euphoria, so his hair just... grew out. With the beard, he just didn't have the energy to give a shit about it and was like 'this may as well just happen'.
-He's visibly sleep deprived with bags under his eyes thanks to the DBD event he participated in. The clash between Otherworldly natures was not easy on him, and until he has time to settle he'll be sleeping poorly.

Powers:
Technically, he can use magic. At best? That means that he can throw up a handy shield sometimes and use them for temporary barriers until they shatter. He can also make small platforms that can support his weight if he walks on them, but he can only manage like two at a time ie "Hey, if you want the top fruit off this branch, gimme a minute, man." With a bit of luck he can maybe summon a spark to light a cigarette, but it will quickly sputter out and can't be used to start a big fire at all.

In general, his magic is a finicky beast that he can't tap into more of unless somebody else could help him learn how to use it, so for now? He is very limited.
